Celebrate a milestone with an unforgettable surprise party!
Samuel Mokoko Mokeba never imagined that leaving his homeland of Cameroon would lead him to find love in the heart of the American South. Yet, destiny had its plans.
Born on July 27, 1965, in Victoria, Cameroon, Samuel—affectionately known as Sammy—was raised in a household where family meant everything. His parents, George and Susan Mokeba, instilled in him a deep respect for hard work, resilience, and the importance of staying connected to his roots. From his early school days in Muyuka and Mbengwi to his secondary years at BBSS in Buea, Sammy carried these values with him like an invisible heirloom.
By the time he reached Yaoundé, where he attended Lycée Bilingue and later the University of Yaoundé’s Faculty of Law, he had developed an insatiable thirst for knowledge. But Sammy wasn’t just an academic; he was also a man of heart. He believed in love—the kind his parents shared, the kind that anchored families and built legacies. What he didn’t know was that love would find him in the most unexpected of places: the Governor’s Office in Columbia, South Carolina.
Sammy had only been in Columbia for a short time when he secured a position at the Governor’s Office while completing his graduate studies at the University of South Carolina. It was a job that demanded discipline, intellect, and diplomacy—all of which he possessed in abundance. But even with his sharp legal mind, nothing could have prepared him for Victoria Dixon.
She was an intern, a young woman with a determined spirit and an infectious smile. The first time their paths crossed, it was over a stack of documents she had accidentally knocked over. As she scrambled to pick them up, she looked up at him and laughed.
“Guess I just made your job harder,” she said, her eyes twinkling.
He chuckled. “Maybe just a little. But I’ll forgive you… if you let me buy you a soda.”
That soda led to lunch, which led to late-night conversations about everything—family, dreams, the places they’d been, and the ones they still hoped to see. Victoria had grown up in South Carolina, but she was captivated by Sammy’s stories of Cameroon, the warmth of his childhood home, and the strength of his family bonds.
A Love That Grew Quietly
Both Samuel and Victoria were student interns at the Governor’s Office when fate brought them together. They shared dreams, laughter, and the struggles of being young students navigating life together.
Over the years, their love flourished, and quietly, they became one. No grand gestures, no elaborate announcements—just a bond built on trust, mutual respect, and an unshakable foundation of faith. Their love was steadfast, a force that carried them through every challenge life threw their way.
A Love That Stood the Test of Time
Marriage, children, and a thriving career followed. Sammy built a remarkable legal career, serving as a Public Defender, a law partner, and a mentor to young legal minds. But no matter how busy life became, family always remained at the center of everything.
Together, Sammy and Victoria created a home that honored both their roots—blending the warmth of Cameroon with the traditions of the American South. They raised their children with the same values their own parents had taught them: respect, love, and an unbreakable bond with family.
Through challenges and triumphs, Sammy and Victoria’s love endured, proving that a tremendous success in life is not measured by titles or accolades but by the strength of the relationships we build. Theirs was not just a love story—it was a testament to the power of family, the beauty of cultural unity, and the enduring strength of a love rooted in something greater than themselves.
And as Sammy looked back on his journey—from the bustling streets of Yaoundé to the courtrooms of Columbia, from the halls of academia to the heart of his family—he knew one thing for certain: he had built a life filled with love, and
As the years went by, the family grew. They were blessed with another son, Lee, who married their daughter, Latoya. Together, they welcomed two beautiful grandchildren, Kent and Liana, bringing even more joy and love into the Mokeba family.
Through every season of life, one thing remained constant: faith, family, and love. These three pillars guided Samuel and Victoria through their journey, anchoring them in times of triumph and tribulation.
For Samuel, success was never just about career achievements or accolades—it was about the warmth of family dinners, the echoes of laughter in the home, and the pride of watching his children and grandchildren flourish.
His story is one of love—love for his wife, children, grandchildren, and the life he built with them. Through every challenge, every victory, and every moment in between, Samuel Mokoko Mokeba remained true to what mattered most: faith, family, and an unyielding love that spanned generations.
Samuel Mokoko Mokeba’s journey through law school was not just one of academic pursuit, but also one of deep family bonds. During his time at LSU’s Law Center in Baton Rouge, his older brother, Mbella, and his wife, Efosi, welcomed him into their home with open arms. Their home became a place of refuge, a sanctuary where Samuel found the love and warmth of family even while miles away from Cameroon.
Living with Mbella and Efosi was more than just a convenience—it was a blessing. Their unwavering support allowed Sammy to focus on his studies, providing him with a stable and loving environment. In return, Sammy became an integral part of their household, sharing wisdom, laughter, and an enduring presence in the lives of their children—his beloved nieces Amai and Bella, and his nephew Nyoki.
Uncle Sammy, The Guiding Light
From the moment he stepped into their home, Sammy became more than just an uncle; he was a mentor, a protector, and a cherished figure in the lives of his young nieces and nephew. He showered them with love and attention, teaching them life lessons in the simplest of moments—helping with homework, sharing stories of Cameroon, and encouraging them to always reach for greatness.
Little Bella, still learning to talk, couldn’t quite say “Uncle Sammy.” Instead, she affectionately called him “Abaaa,” a name that stuck in the family as a symbol of the deep affection she had for him. He adored his role in their lives, never missing an opportunity to offer words of encouragement or simply sit with them, listening to their endless childhood stories.
A Bond That Runs Deep
Despite the demands of law school, Sammy never let the stress of his studies take away from the love he had for his brother and his family. He and Mbella shared a bond rooted in childhood memories, mutual respect, and an unbreakable sense of loyalty. Their late-night conversations ranged from legal theories to family history, from dreams of the future to fond recollections of their parents, George and Susan Mokeba.
To Sammy, Mbella was more than just a brother—he was a pillar of strength, a source of wisdom, and a guiding presence who played a critical role in his journey. And in turn, Sammy cherished Mbella’s family as his own, forever grateful for their kindness and generosity during those formative years.
No matter how far life would take him, no matter how successful he became, Sammy’s love for his brother and his family never wavered. To this day, the memories of that time—the laughter of children, the warmth of shared meals, the quiet moments of encouragement—remain etched in his heart. Because, above all else, Sammy knew that family was the foundation upon which all his successes were built
